Durham Mardi Gras Parade
Shelley Opearls will be making an appearance at the family friendly Durham Mardi Gras on Tuesday, March 4th at 7pm (get there earlier so you don’t miss anything). Shelley will be joined by some of her NC Merfolk friends and her Eclectic Adventure friends.

The Third Annual Festival of Legends will be returning to Storybook Farm, Chapel Hill, April 26th and 27th of 2014! This will be a family-friendly event that will host a variety of different entertainers (musicians, magicians, jugglers, acrobats, comedians, dancers, fairies, mermaids, ect.) and artists selling their wares. Themes of the event include mythology, folklore, fairy tales and fantasy. The event is open to the public with paid admission (Adults-$15 Child-$8).
Shelley OPearls and Mermaid Amara will be making several appearances throughout the weekend. Spread the word, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

Always wanted to learn bellydance? Here’s your chance! This is a fun, friendly atmosphere for ladies who’ve never danced before to learn some basics like hip drops, shimmies, snake arms and more. This course will be on Sunday nights for 4 weeks in a row. You will stretch, learn something new about how your body can move, make new friends, and discover something about another culture too. After the performance, stay for the dance party. Bring out your skeleton scarf, and shake your bones on the dance floors.. Prizes for the best costumes!! Scariest, Cutest, Funniest, Best Couples, Best home made……(costumes encouraged, but not required)

Fullsteam Fun!
Another Bellydance night at Fullsteam in Durham proved to be successful yet again. The live music was great and lots of performances. Shelley did a fun Tahitian dance!! Next event is November 27th–Be there!

A fun introduction workshop to ‘beginner level’ Polynesian dance. At this gathering of Shelley’s Island Dance Club, you’ll learn and enjoy the basic movements and steps for Polynesian dance.No prior experience is needed. If you do have prior experience, you are welcome to come dance with us!
Begin to understand the difference and similarity between Hawaiian Hula and Tahiti Ori. Discover if this dance style is something you’d like to peruse or simply learn to appreciate island dance by giving it a try.

{Dancing at Mosaic for Arabian Night}
Colorful Waves members, Shahzaadee and Yonja, will be performing bellydance at Mosaic’s Arabian Night tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 10) at 9:30pm along with Safiya. We hope to see you there! Don’t be late and bring a hip scarf and all your friends and dance the night away after the show!

Shahzaadee at STK Workshop
Shahzaadee was the instructor at this Share the Knowledge workshop for ACCMED members. She taught a choreography that can be used as a finale piece. Lots of fun!!
